The question if hair should be washed twice is asked surprisingly often. Hopefully, the answer turns out simple and is consistent with my entire hair care philospohy.
The answer is….
…wash your hair as many times as needed.
Or that first time is for washing hair, the other one is for nourishing.
Or other strange theories, which mostly have roots in poor hair washing technique.
No, it is not bad. My goal was to emphasize that glorifying double wash is pointless.
If you prefer double wash, go for it! The only important thing is to remember to dilute the shampoo properly, and to wash only scalp.
It is always better to wash twice with more diluted shampoo, than to wash once with lots of product.
Not really. Shampoos consist of cleaning agents, including Sodium Laureths Sulfate, Magnesium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopryl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside.
These cleaning agents may be strong, moderate or mild, but in principle, they are made to clean hair, not to nurish it.
I would throw an estimation of 20% depends on shampoo, 80% on conditioner.
The main role of shampoo is to clean with no irritation of scalp. Additionaly, it may add some protein, moisturizers or extracts, but still not a significant amount.
To sum up, go with your gut feeling. There are never 100% strict rules in hair care and you are welcome to bend them to your needs.
